Jon Kerschner,
MA, Executive Director
Jon holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. He came to Sierra
Family Services in 2000 versed in both the clinical and administrative aspects of mental health. He has over 23 years experience
in substance abuse treatment, mental health services, in residential, outpatient and private practice. Management of multiple
mental health and substance abuse offices while with The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center rounds out the experience
Jon brings to SFS.
Nicole Paul, MFT, Clinical Director
Nicole has worked for SFS since 2000. Nicole is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over seven years experience
in working with mental health and substance abuse treatment. Nicole has facilitated many drug treatment and psychoeducational
groups as well as providing outpatient counseling to individuals, couples and families. Nicole oversees
all clinical aspects of the agency, with more hands-on supervision in the Roseville and Auburn offices.
Sharlene Hayes, MSC – Roseville
office
For 11 years, Sharlene has facilitated the Perinatal Day Care Habilitative group. Sharlene’s vast experience
in drug treatment and mental health comes from working in various capacities in outpatient, inpatient and county settings.
Her ability to connect, translates to a meaningful and healing experience for clients. She also sees individuals, couples,
and families.
Monique VandenBos, MFT –
Roseville office
Monique is a licensed Marriage, Family Therapist who
specializes in working with traumatized children. Monique facilitates our Dual Diagnosis group at Sierra Family
Services. She blends medical model concepts with 12-step principles and mental health theories. Monique also sees individuals,
couples and families at the agency.
Jennifer Lee, MFTI - Roseville office
Jen facilitates one of our
Parenting Enhancement groups in addition to providing individual, couples and family therapy at Sierra Family Services.
Holding a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology she is a registered intern in pursuit of her MFT license. Jen
is a generalist who has experience with a variety of clientele.
Katie Silva, MFTI – Roseville
office
Katie originally began working at Sierra
Family Services as a counselor for our Men’s Domestic Violence groups in Roseville. More recently she has begun seeing
adolescents and adults, along with facilitating one of our Parenting Enhancement groups. Katie also has many years of
experience in working with substance abuse treatment and facilitates the Level I drug treatment group in Roseville.
Brandy Novak, MFTI – Roseville office
Brandy facilitates the Children in the Middle: Divorce Education for Parents group. Brandy’s dedication
to teaching and empowerment while helping clients heal has proven to be successful with even the most challenging issues.
Brandy also works with children, adolescents and adults in individual, family and couples therapy.
Lorna Laidlaw, MFT – Auburn office
Lorna is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
who brings years of experience in working with various dynamics and populations from both a private agency perspective as
well as a county systems perspective. Lorna has a great deal of experience in working with sexual assault victims, adults
with sexual abuse histories, and general trauma.
Leslie Bauman, MFTI– Auburn office
Leslie worked for SFS as a student trainee and
has since returned as an intern to continue her experience and gain clinical hours for licensure. Leslie works primarily out
of our Auburn site, providing counseling to adults and children. Leslie has a great deal of training in sandplay therapy and
utilizes these techniques to help children begin to heal.
Debbie Isom, MFTI - Auburn Office
Debbie also started with Sierra Family Services as a student
trainee and has since achieved her registered MFT Intern status. She has a Master's Degree in Counseling
Psychology and works primarily with adolescents, adults and couples. Debbie uses a variety of approaches under the Scientist
Practitioner model in working with her clients to address their needs.
Shawn Benjaminson, MFT
- Tahoe Office
Shawn worked as an intern at Placer
County Mental Health four years before coming to work for Sierra Family Services. She has since become a licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist and has provided supervision for Tahoe's clinical staff for the past eight years.
Shawn works with children, adolescents and adults, and is also a facilitator for SFS' Equine Assistance Psychotherapy
Program. Shawn has a strong background in cognitive behavioral, solution focused and family systems theories and is
dedicated to providing the best service to her clients.
Tracey Barrett, MFTI - Tahoe Office
Tracey has worked for SFS for nine years. She works with children, adolescents
and adults and uses an eclectic approach to therapy, bringing in many different theories according to the need of the
client. She is a facilitator of our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Program and is most passionate about building that
program, along with helping her clients achieve real and long lasting change.
Efraim Estrada, MSW - Tahoe Office
Efraim came to Sierra Family Services with over 38 years experience working within human
services private, nonprofit and county sectors. At SFS, he is the bilingual/ bicultural therapist that counsels adults,
adolescents and children in mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and parenting. Efraim is able to
connect quickly and strongly with his clients using a gentle humanistic approach.
